Navigating a challenging culture
**Childcare, crafts, lite snacks, and beverages will be provided**
Margie Wilson boasts a wealth of expertise spanning 17 years as a catechist, with prior administrative roles and a notable position as the Coordinator of Religious Education. Her extensive background includes engaging with individuals of various age groups within faith formation, serving both children and families.
Peggy Grill has dedicated 29 years to her career as a pediatric occupational therapist, specializing in child development and collaborating with children of varying abilities and their families across different settings. Furthermore, Peggy has accrued more than ten years of experience as a catechist and CLW leader. Presently, she holds the position of Assistant Professor at Elmhurst University within the Master of Occupational Therapy program.
Children’s Liturgy of the Word (CLW) is offered at all of our weekend Masses - that's the 4pm Saturday Mass AND the 8:30am and 10:30am Masses on Sunday. (Except when there is a Grade Level Mass at 10:30 am.)
Our ever-growing ministry, is in need of a few more Leaders and Assistants (adults) at our 8:30 am Sunday Mass.
CLW Leaders prepare the lessons and a small project – coloring, stickers, etc. CLW Assistants help set up, clean-up and assist the attendees as needed. (A guidebook is provided that has lesson and craft ideas for each week of the liturgical year.)
Contact Margie Wilson in the RE Office at 708-301-3020 if you would like to help or want more information about this wonderful Ministry. (Or via email [email protected])
All children between the ages of four to ten are invited to participate. This Liturgy will provide age appropriate liturgical prayer, expand your child’s ability to understand the readings, and provide interaction with same age peers. These Liturgies are led by adult members of the parish who are experienced in religious education. Children are led out to the foyer after the opening prayer and return to their parents at the offertory.
We warmly invite our youngest members of the parish to participate in Children’s Liturgy of the Word. Parents and caregivers are welcome to attend and participate as well. Before the onset of the Liturgy of the Word, all interested children gather with their leaders and assistants and proceed to our newly appointed Ava Maria Children’s Chapel. Weekly liturgies consist of age-appropriate readings, responses, reflections, and various hands-on activities to reinforce the Sunday Gospel message. These liturgies are interactive guided by adult instruction and incorporate peer learning. Additionally, all leaders have backgrounds in catechesis. Children then return to their families before the Liturgy of the Eucharist.
No registration is necessary.
