What is a LovePurse?

     Its a large purse or tote bag that contains essential items for women who are in abusive situations and must leave their homes to flee quickly to a safe shelter.

     The LovePurse Project was founded by a person who works with women in abusive situations. She saw how often these women must quickly escape abuse and violence and leave behind even their most basic necessities. LovePurse makes a difference by collecting items that fulfill these critical needs. For a woman whose only thought is survival, receiving these essentials is not just practical support, it is a powerful gesture of care and love.

     St. Bernard’s Charitable Action Ministry (CAM) is sponsoring a collection for the LovePurse Project. The following items are requested:

 -NEW large purses or tote bags

 -The following personal items:

  Feminine products, deodorant, soap, body lotion, hand sanitizer, toothpaste, lip balm, nail file, shower slippers, socks, comb, full size shampoo & conditioner, face cloth, compact mirror, chocolates, mints, floss, note pad, pen.

 -A note of encouragement

      Please enclose a note of encouragement with your donation. These notes are very important. We want the women to know that we care and that they are valued and respected. (Cards will be available for these notes at church.) 

The LovePurse Collection will take place on 

May 10-11 and May 17-18.

     Please donate NEW purses or tote bags and/or requested personal items on those dates. 

     The personal items will be placed in the purses and will be donated to Guardian Angel Community Services in Joliet. This charity provides transitional housing and support for survivors of domestic violence. When women seek their services, they will be given a LovePurse and will benefit from your generosity.
