May Crowning May 4
10:30am Mass
Sunday, May 4, St. Bernard will celebrate the Crowning of Mary at the 10:30am Mass.
A longstanding Catholic tradition, the May Crowning of Mary honors the Virgin Mary. Throughout history, Catholics have long honored the Blessed Virgin Mary during the month of May. To symbolize her significance in the Church and in our lives, the “May Crowning” is set up to display her queenship as the mother of Jesus. Catholic churches typically create a dedicated area to place a picture or statue of Mary, which is surrounded by flowers and candles.
Note that we do not view Mary as a goddess, nor do we worship Mary; she is honored or venerated as the mother of Christ, the most important woman in our Catholic faith.
