Each Friday in Lent there is Daily Mass at 9:00am. Following Mass is the Lenten Devotion of Stations of the Cross.
The Stations of the Cross began as the practice of pious pilgrims to Jerusalem who would retrace the final journey of Jesus Christ to Calvary. Later, for the many who wanted to pass along the same route, but could not make the trip to Jerusalem, a practice developed that eventually took the form of the fourteen stations currently found in almost every church.
At St. Bernard’s, the Stations of the Cross are brought out each Lent and are arranged in the Worship space. Fr. Joe leads the devotion after the Mass.
It has been well attended with about 40 people each week. If you are available, come and participate this Friday.
March 29 3:00pm (outdoors)
You are invited to participate in St. Bernard’s Good Friday Walk to the Cross. Moms and dads, children and seniors, teens and young adults, come join us for a few prayerful moments in grateful remembrance of Jesus’ total love. We’ll gather in church at 3:00pm on Good Friday, March 29, and walk out to the cross on 143rd Street with readings and prayer.
We all carry crosses as we go through our daily lives. Sometimes they’re so large and heavy we can hardly manage. During our Walk to the Cross on Good Friday, we’d like to hold up in prayer the needs of every one of you by carrying your burdens to the cross. Below, please list a need or problem - a cross you are carrying - and deposit it in the box you’ll see in the Foyer. We ask you to do this even if you will be unable to attend the Walk.
P.S.: If you plan to attend the Good Friday Walk to the Cross, would you like to be one of the readers? There are about ten reading parts. Sign up in the foyer by the Cross Walk drop box or call Mary Gow at 708-525-4556.
